The Northeast Filk Convention

I totally dropped the ball on advance planning and thus have no way to get to ConCertino nor a place to stay.

Can anyone offer me one or both? I'd really love to go.

Pre-registration for ConCertino closes at the beginning of June. Don't forget to register. It costs more at the door.

Please send songs for the program book to songbook2012 atsign concertino.net. These need to be in by the end of May. Earlier is much better so I don't have a horrible editing crunch in June.

The hotel room block closes on June 7. Make sure to reserve your room by then.

Posting this address publicly is OK, but please apply some form of obfuscation to slow spammers down.

The address songbook2012 at the same domain continues to be the one to send me songs. Please take advantage of this. Please send songs soon if possible, so I'm not buried in editing work in June.

It was great to see how many of the people at FilKontario will be coming! Please come, it'll be a great con!

My father, Stanley Winston passed from this life at about 3 PM this afternoon. He was 94 years old, and he lived every one of those years with passion, intelligence, and wit, and a driving desire to make the world better. He was, in the Yiddish phrase", A Gute Mensch. I have been in touch with her on Saturday evening, when I heard about it.  (I don't check facebook as often as livejournal.)

Roberta mentioned the following -

She was able to get to see her father before he passed away.  (She mentioned flying out on Thursday.)  She will be back in NJ on Tuesday (I think) and the funneral is currently scheduled for Monday (unless they can get it in on Sunday.)  She will be sitting shiva with her family in California for the next day or two.

She also will be having Shiva in NJ on Wed, evening.  Contact me - harold at panix dot com for directions and address.

The Holiday Inn Boxboro has just added a bunch of double rooms to the block for ConCertino. If you tried to reserve a double and couldn't, you should be able to now. Let me know if there are any problems. I'm still waiting for the hotel liaison address to be created, but you can reach me at my personal email or at songbook2012 domain concertino period net.

I just saw the post from stevemb from over a week ago noting a lack of available double doubles for ConCertino. I've just emailed the hotel manager asking to have some added to the room block.

If you have any problems making a hotel reservation, please contact me! I don't think there's a hotel email address yet, but I'll ask to have hotel2012 (at concertino.net) created. In the meantime, contact me either at my personal email address or the songbook address.

Please send songs for the ConCertino program book. Don't make me come after you. :) Send them to songbook2012 (at concertino.net). Songs either with original music or to existing tunes are welcome. Any subject is fine, as long as they have some excuse for being in a filk collection.

The hotel web page is currently showing the convention block as having only 1 king-bed rooms. The non-convention reservation page shows 2 twin-bed rooms available (at the standard higher rate). The reservations person when I called reported the same options.

Trying to get reservations for ConCertino through the Holiday Inn's main site doesn't get you the convention rate, I'm told. However, you can make online reservations by through http://www.holidayinn.com/boxboroughma. Enter the group code FIL when asking for room dates. This information will be updated shortly on the website.

If you prefer more traditional tech, you can call 978-263-8701.

I've gotten a report that if you try to make a hotel reservation for Concertino using the online reservation system, it doesn't honor the convention reservation code "FIL" but wants to charge you almost three times as much. Making reservations by phone works. I'll find out what's going on as soon as I can.
